The county’s Mass Transit Agency has added a new Hele-On bus stop at the University of Hawaii at Hilo campus.

The stop at the university’s new bookstore, located along the main parking lot between its theater and campus center, is in addition to the existing stop on Kapiolani Street at the bottom of the campus near the old gym.

The bus also makes a stop on the Kawili campus of Hawaii Community College.

Mass transit administrator Tiffany Kai said nearly all of the routes going through Hilo – including those originating in outlying areas such as Pahoa, Volcano and Waimea – will be stopping at the university.

Kai said the only exception is the Hilo-South Kohala resort route.

She said the agency is updating its website to reflect the new stop.

The Hele-On bus will begin the new service on Monday, April 14.
