Police Investigating Report of Threat Against Woman

Police are investigating a report of a woman being accosted by a male in Puna earlier this year.

The 19-year-old Pahoa woman told police she was walking along Kahakai Boulevard near Da Store when a dark-colored sedan pulled up alongside. A Caucasian man got out of the vehicle, brandished a knife and threatened the woman, who walked away.

Police said the man then got back into the vehicle and drove away in the makai direction.

The woman was not injured in the incident which occurred about 9:12 p.m. on Feb. 5.

The suspect was described as about 5-foot-5, 140 pounds, with short brown hair and a medium build.

The vehicle may have been a foreign made, possibly a Honda or Toyota.

Police have released a composite sketch of the suspect with the hope the public can help identify him
