Big Island police said that Highway 132 has been reopened in both directions.

Also known as the Pahoa-Kapoho Road, the highway was closed early this morning by a falling tree that also downed power lines.

A tree that fell and took down utility lines has closed Highway 132, also known as the Pahoa-Kapoho Road, Hawaii County Civil Defense said this morning.

The closure on the Pahoa side of Nanawale Boulevard was first reported by police at about 5 a.m. The road is expected to remain closed until early afternoon as crews work to clear the area and repair utility lines.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area. Local traffic is being detoured through the Leilani Estates subdivision.
