Police are asking for the public’s help solving the theft of coffee parchment and other items earlier this month in Ka`u.

A 53-year-Naalehu man reported Feb. 11 that someone had taken 10 80-pound brown burlap bags of the dried, unhulled coffee beans from his property. Also stolen was a 10-foot-square tarp gazebo and an electric garage door opener.

The bags were marked with “14-2” in black ink.

The stolen items were valued at $10,000.

Anyone with information on the theft is asked to call Officer Augustine Akiu at 939-2520.

Anonymous tips can be made to Crime Stoppers at 961-8300.
