UPDATE: Ka`u Man Arrested in Hatchet Robbery

Police this morning arrested a Ka`u man in connection with a robbery last Sunday involving a hatchet.

Kainoa Kahele-Bishop, 23, of Ocean View was being held at the Kona police cellblock.

Police have arrested an Ocean View resident for allegedly threatening a woman  with a hatchet.

Police are also looking for a Ka`u man in connection with the incident.

Police said the victim, a 47-year-old Discovery Harbor woman, was walking near her car parked along South Point Road Sunday morning when a woman got out of a white Toyota sedan and threatened her with the implement.

The two women scuffled and the victim was able to take the hatchet away and throw it into brush alongside the road.

Police said a man then got out of the Toyota, reached into the victim’s car and took a bag containing a laptop computer, a cellular phone and a wallet.

At that point a passerby stopped, and the man got back into the Toyota and fled the scene.

Meanwhile, the female got into the victim’s car and tried unsuccessfully to start it. She then ran into the bushes.

According to police, the Waiohinu woman sustained a bite on her forearm during the scuffle.

An investigation led to the arrest Monday of Trinety Crapser, 25, of Ocean View in connection with the incident. She was charged Tuesday with first-degree robbery, third-degree assault and unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle.

Crapser’s bail was set at $62,000.

Police are looking for 23-year-old Kainoa Kahele-Bishop of Ocean View in connection with the incident. He is described as 5-foot-8 and 160 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
