The county Department of Public Works reports that major construction work has been completed on the one-block stretch of Kilauea Avenue.

The repaving project has snarled traffic for the past several weeks between Aupuni Street and the Wailoa Bridge, reducing the roadway to a single Puna-bound lane during that period.

Both lanes have been reopened and onstreet parking is again available.

More work will still be required, however.

Work on placing of lane striping, adjustments of utility boxes and manhole covers and installation of an improved traffic signal control system will get underway on Thursday, Dec. 26.
