Enter the Kona Brewers Festival
Registration is open through Jan. 17 for the 19th annual Kona Brewers Festival, an event indulging craft beer aficionados and foodies alike, taking place March 8, 2014, at King Kamehameha’s Courtyard Kona Beach Hotel. Forty of the country’s best breweries and 40 Hawaii restaurants are expected to serve 2,000 people attending. Details at the Kona Brewers Festival site.

Food Network Seeks Restaurateurs

The Food Network is looking for local restaurateurs who moved from the mainland to Hawaii recently to open a restaurant. Producers are planning reality episodes highlighting the buying and leasing process in Hawaii, Pacific Business News reported. The network will begin filming January and you can apply with an e-mail to [email protected].

Merriman’s Gives Back On Its 25th
Merriman’s Restaurant celebrated its 25th anniversary in Waimea on Dec. 14 by donating $25,000 to five Big Island charities: Hawaii Island United Way, The Food Basket, Kahilu Theater, Hawaii Islands Land Trust and Merriman’s Culinary Scholarship. “Hawaii has been good to us and we want to be good to Hawaii,” said Chef Peter Merriman, an early originator of “Hawaii Regional Cuisine.”
