A project involving improvements to Kilauea Avenue will require closing of one lane at times beginning tonight.

A spokeswoman for the county Department of Public Works said excavation will begin at 5 p.m.

The work will also require intermittent interruptions in water service in the area.

Motorists are advised to consider alternate routes to avoid delays on Kilauea between Aupuni Street and the Wailoa Bridge.

The project, which also involves replacing a sewer line as well as repaving, is expected to be completed in February.
