HIHS Family and Pet Expo Friday, Saturday in Hilo

This Friday and Saturday, the Family and Pet Expo will offer something for everybody on four legs or less.

The event sponsored by the Hawaii Island Humane Society is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at the Butler Building near the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium.

In addition to games and prizes, products and services will be offered by nearly 100 vendors.

A silent auction will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday featuring original art, jewelry, apparel, vintage music books and other items.

There will be live entertainment both days from mid-morning through late afternoon. Performers include Randy and Carol Fonseca, Dan Nix, Ethan Swift and the Comedy Canines, which recently moved to the Big Island from Tennessee.

Master drum designer and carver Alofa will provide a Tahitian drum performance on Friday.

Booths will provide a wide variety of food offerings.

Those who ordered Krispy Kreme donuts at the humane society’s Keaau shelter can pick them up at the HIHS booth on Friday. The booth will also assist those looking to adopt a shelter pet or snag HIHS logo items, Christmas ornaments, cards and other possible stocking stuffers.

On Saturday, Hawaii Balloon and Photo will present balloon sculpturing and Shear Magic Pet Salon will provide pet nail painting, pictures with your pet and more.
