UHH’s Trevino-Scott Earns Second PWC Freshman Award

University of Hawai`i at Hilo outside hitter Kyndra Trevino-Scott has been named the Pacific West Conference’s Women’s Volleyball Freshman of the Week Award for matches played between Oct. 28 – Nov. 3.

It’s the second time the Penryn, CA native has earned the honor. She received the season’s first award for matches played between Aug. 29 – Sept. 8.

UH-Hilo went 3-0 last week and extended its home match winning streak to four.

Trevino-Scott picked up 15 kills and six block assists in UH-Hilo’s four set victory over Fresno Pacific on Oct. 28. Two nights later, she recorded 10 kills and seven digs as part of a straight set sweep of Notre Dame de Namur. On Sunday, Trevino-Scott picked up six kills and seven digs as the Vulcans cruised past Holy Names in three sets.

For the week, Trevino-Scott’s 4.17 kills per set ranked her eighth among all conference participants. She was also ninth for the week with 3.44 kills per set.

Trevino-Scott leads her team with 62 total blocks and a 0.77 blocks per set average. She also ranks second on the team with 2.78 kills per set and 222 total kills this season.

UH-Hilo closes its season with a four match road trip, beginning tonight in St. George, UT. The Vulcans face Dixie State University at 6:00 p.m. Mountain time.
