University of Hawai`i at Hilo freshman Anthony Novella was named the Pacific West Conference Men’s Soccer Freshman of the Week for games played between Oct. 21-27.

Novella scored his third goal of the season Saturday as the Vulcans fell 2-1 to Holy Names University. The goal, which is tied for the team lead, came in the 73rd minute of regulation to tie the game at 1-1. Holy Names scored a goal in the game’s final minute to pull out the victory.

UH-Hilo went 1-1 last week. The loss to Holy Names came three days after the Vulcans picked up a 2-0 road victory at Hawai`i Pacific University.

UH-Hilo (5-7-1 overall, 3-6-1 conference) returns to the field Thursday to face Academy of Art. The UHH Baseball Field will play host to the PacWest matchup, which gets started at 3:00 p.m. after the women’s game.
