Some activities at Kolekole Gulch Park, including overnight camping, will be curtailed for the next several months while the park’s septic system undergoes repairs.

A private contractor is scheduled to begin the work on Monday, Sept. 23, said Jason Armstrong, spokesman for the county Department of Parks and Recreation.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of November.

The park, which is also known as Kolekole Beach Park, will remain open during the work but no permits for camping or for exclusive use of the large pavilions will be issued until the project is finished.

During the construction, portable toilets will continue to be provided and park visitors may continue using the two small pavilions closest to the ocean on a first-come, first-served basis, Armstrong said.
