Entering Saturday’s game against the Nashville Sounds, Hilo native Kolten Wong went 21 straight games without knocking a ball out of the park.

After hitting a home run in Saturday’s 7-2 win over the Milwaukee Brewers’ Triple-A affiliate, Wong followed it up the next night with his seventh big fly of the season in Memphis’ 13-3 rout of the Sounds.

The Kamehameha-Hawai`i graduate got things going in the first inning by pulling a line drive into right field against Nashville starter Hiram Burgos. Three batters later, Wong came home on a sacrifice fly by Adron Chambers to put the Redbirds on top 1-0.

Wong opened the third inning with his solo home run to start a three-run inning. Teammate Jamie Romak followed with a two-run home run to cap the scoring run.
