Kona’s Largest Egg Dash at Old Airport Saturday

This Saturday pack up the kids and take them out for an egg hunt.

This annual event hosted by Solid Rock Ministries Kona is Kailua-Kona’s largest egg-stravaganza, representing two decades of festive fun. Approximately 40,000 plastic eggs were candy-stuffed to await placement throughout the Old Airport’s soccer field.

Keiki are separated into four age groups, then dash around the field to grab all the eggs they can.

All are entered into prize drawings for bicycles, iPods, body boards, video games and more.  People must be present to win prizes, and refreshments will be served. Expect live music, puppets and a large crowd.

Parents can register their keiki online at www.srmkona.org. Only children 11 years old and younger — those born on March 31, 2001, or later — will be allowed to participate in the egg rush. This free community event continues to grow each year.

Registration will also take place at the event at 7:30 a.m. at the soccer field. The first dash will take place at 9 a.m.
