Hilo DIA is not a government agency. Rather, it’s a nonprofit organization that focuses on preserving and revitalizing Hilo’s historic district.

Established in 1962, the group works to promote and support the historic downtown area with a variety of community events.

DIA sponsors First Fridays, a Hilo town art walk the first Friday of the month, as well as provides free live Hawaiian music and hula on cruise ship days.
