Here’s a look at what’s happening in the world of business around the Big Island this week.

Local Grass-fed Beef Available at 78 Locations Across Big Island  

Demand continues to grow when it comes to locally raised beef. Despite a drought that is heavily impacting island ranchers, grass-fed Big Island beef is growing in popularity.

According to folks at the Taste of the Hawaiian Range, the well-known annual cooking and industry trade show, there are now 78 locations around the island where residents can purchase locally raised beef.

A complete list of stores and restaurants offering Big Island beef is available at the Taste of the Hawaiian Range website.

The 2013 Mealani Taste of the Hawaiian Range will be held Oct. 4 at the Hilton Waikoloa Village. 

Joy Baldado Joins West Hawaii Association of Realtors Staff

The West Hawaii Association of Realtors announced that Joy Baldado rejoined their team this week as executive assistant, a position she had held previously for three years.

Baldado returns to the team after a short stint at First American Title.

West Hawaii Association of Realtors, which has nearly 450 members, will hold its general membership meeting on March 22, location TBD.

Na Makua Closing Hilo Store

After 10 years, Na Makua is closing its Hilo retail store on Wainuenue Ave. effective tomorrow.

In a released statement, Nelson Makua said the company will remain in business while it seeks another location.

The company will continue to accept orders via telephone and online at www.namakua.com, as well as continue to honor gift certificates, credits, and exchanges.

A moving sale started earlier this week and will continue through tomorrow.
