Rangers at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park are investigating the death of a Hilo man whose lifeless body was found Saturday morning in a pickup truck parked along the shoulder of Route 11 inside the park’s boundaries.

The 2002 white Ford truck containing the body of Steven L. Elliott, 43, was parked facing the Ka`u direction near the 35-mile marker, a park spokeswoman said late this afternoon.

The cause of his death was unknown. An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday.
