The county Department of Water Supply has scheduled another service interruption Wednesday as part of the ongoing work on the new Ahualoa-Honokaa transmission line.

The shut-off will affect service connections in Ahualoa along the Old Mamalahoa Highway from the Kapuna Road intersection to the Mauna Loa Road junction. Affected areas will include the Hagiwara subdivision and services on Pikake Street, from Hagiwara Tank to Mauna Loa Street, and Ka`ao Road.

The outage is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

When water service is turned back on waterlines will be flushed and cleaned, during which time customers may notice turbid or discolored water. Air may also be trapped in plumbing but will be released as water is used.

The department is reminding affected customers to take any and all precautions necessary to protect property and facilities including, but not limited to, disabling electrical power to pumps or any other devices whose normal operation may be dependent on water pressure and/or water supply, and which might be harmed if automatically energized during the water shutoff.
