While people can madly rush about for those presents and sales during the holidays there’s also children out of school needing to eat.

On December 12, join KAPA FM, Aloha United Way, Salvation Army and musician Kuana Torres Kahele as they help the island’s keiki.

The Salvation Army has a winter break feeding program that works to feed the children and collects “slippahs,” and school supplies.

From 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the center courtyard at the Keauhou Shopping Center becomes Kahele’s stage for his Christmas album, Hilo for the Holidays.

This talented musician is a multiple Na Hoku Hanohano award winner, and founded the traditional Hawaiian group Na Palapalai.

His solo CD titled Kaunaloa received high acclaim and 10 Na Hoku Hanohano Award nominations. Kahele went on to win Album of the Year, Hawaiian Album of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, Liner Notes, and Song of the Year in 2012.

Kahele will return to Hilo from his tour in Japan to play for Hawaii’s kids and inspire others to give.

Donate non-perishable food, slippers, school supplies and/or money to this worthwhile cause.

The Keauhou Shopping Center is located at 78-6831 Ali’i Drive in Kailua-Kona.
