Man Robbed Early Today on Puueo Street

Police are investigating a robbery reported to have occurred shortly after midnight in Hilo.

A 63-year-old Hilo man told police he was walking along Puueo Street at about 12:30 a.m. when he was confronted by a man who pushed him to the ground and stole his wallet.

The suspect was described as Polynesian, about 5-foot-2 and 180 pounds with a stocky build. He may have been wearing a light-colored “hoodie” sweatshirt.

The suspect fled the area on foot in the direction of downtown Hilo.

The victim was not injured in the incident.

Police have classified the case as second-degree robbery.
