Visitor From Japan Drowns at Kohala Coast Resort

A visitor from Japan drowned Monday off the Kohala Coast, according to the results of an autopsy released Wednesday.

Police responding to a 2:04 p.m. report from the Fairmont Orchid hotel in South Kohala resort found its staff performing CPR on a male snorkeler who had been pulled from the water unconscious.

The 35-year-old victim, Takashi Nakayama, was transported to North Hawaii Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
