Man, 77, Dies While Spear-Fishing Off Coconut Island

Police said a 77-year-old man died today while spear-fishing off Coconut Island.

Fire department personnel responding to an 11:20 a.m. call found the man on shore and unresponsive. He was taken to Hilo Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The man has not been identified.

An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death.
