Kailua-Kona Brushfire Contained, Hualalai Road Reopened

A brushfire in Kailua-Kona that forced the closing of Hualalai Road has been contained, police said late this afternoon.

The brushfire that broke out this morning between Queen Ka’ahumanu Highway and Kuakini Highway blackened approximately 10 acres of land.

According to Hawaii County’s Civil Defense Agency, Hualalai Road was reopened at about 3 p.m.

Motorists were being advised to exercise caution as emergency personnel remained in the area.
