On Saturday, Hawaii’s favorite pupu, or appetizer, and a fish course as well is the main event as amateurs and chefs battle for best poke.
The event takes place at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort and Spa’s Ali`i Ballroom. Doors open at 12:30 p.m.
Poke (pronounced PO-keh) means to cut or dice in Hawaiian and usually includes the freshest island fish served raw with various seasonings or marinades.
The audience is allowed to sample and enjoy after the judges decide on their favorite culinary creation. Tickets are $7 for this event.

Later that day, the Kindy Sproat Falsetto Contest and storytelling contest takes place at 6:30 p.m. in the Naupaka Ballroom at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott.
Falsetto is a style of singing which lifts the register of the male voice to a high pitch or tone. Tickets are $7 and doors open at 5:30 p.m.
