A collision between a semi-trailer truck and a sedan Monday night sent the drivers of both vehicles to the hospital.

A Hawai`i Fire Department spokesman said the 20-year-old driver of the sedan was trapped in his vehicle and had to be extricated from the wreckage.

Both the 20-year-old man and the 60-year-old man driving the semi were taken to North Hawai`i Community Hospital. Their conditions were not immediately available.

The accident reported at 5:46 p.m. occurred near the 61-mile marker on Highway 19, also known as the Kawaihae Road.
