Kaumana Home Damaged in Fire Friday Night

An investigation is underway into the cause of a fire that caused heavy damage to a Hilo home Friday night.

Hawai‘i County firefighters arriving at the home at 10 Manaolana Street in Kaumana at 7:27 p.m. found flames from the garage spreading to the main residence.

Damage to the $400,000 home was estimated at $250,000.

One person was injured. No other information was immediately available.

Volunteers with the American Red Cross responded to the scene to assist the home’s residents.
