Firefighters Extinguish Kitchen Fire in Kawaihae

Hawai`i Fire Department inspectors are looking into the cause of a fire that damaged the kitchen of a house in Kawaihae early today.

Firefighters from the South Kohala fire station arriving at the home at 61-4077 Kalo`olo`o Drive shortly after 5 a.m. could see flames through the kitchen window. It took them 10 minutes to extinguish the blaze.

Police assistance was requested to determine whether anyone was inside the house. No one was found.

An estimate of the damage was not immediately available.
