Residents in the area of the intersection of Kawaihae Road and Kohala Mountain Road will have their water service shuf off for a brief period next week to allow for a waterline connection to the Lalamilo subdivision system.

The shut-off will last from 10 p.m.  Wednesday, Aug. 15 until 1 a.m. the following day, the county Department of Water Supply said.

The affected areas include along Kawaihae Road west of Pako Place and continuing down Kawaihae Road past Waiemi Place near the 64-mile marker. Also affected will be the initial portion of Kohala Mountain Road that includes Hawaii Preparatory Academy, Lanikepu Place and Ohiaku Place.

Affected customers should take any protections necessary to protect pumps or other devices when normal operations are dependent on water pressure or supply. They may notice discolored water or air trapped in the plumbing following the resumption of water service.
