Papa New Guinea Earthquake Poses No Hawai`i Tsunami Threat

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said Saturday that Hawai`i does not face a tsunami threat following a large earthquake that struck near Papa New Guinea.

Data shows that the earthquake, which was measured at a 6.6 magnitude, happened at 10:04 a.m. Hawaii time. The quake was centered in the New Ireland Region of Papa New Guinea.
