The Pohakuloa Training Area will have a new commander Tuesday.

Lt. Col Eric P. Shwedo will assume control of the Army facility on Saddle Road, PTA Public Affairs Officer Bob McElroy said today.

The previous duty for Shwedo, a Special Forces officer, was at US Special Operations Command in Tampa, Fla. He has served in Special Forces assignments in the US, Afghanistan, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait and Qatar, McElroy said.

Shwedo takes over from Lt. Col. Rolland Niles, who has been commander of US Army Garrison Pohakuloa for the past two years. Niles’ next assignment is as the fire support coordinator for III Corps at Fort Hood in Texas.
