A third day of searching along the South Kona coast has yet to turn up any sign of a missing New York teenager, a Hawaii Fire Department spokesman said this afternoon.
“We’re still looking,” said Capt. Winstin Takamoto of the Captain Cook fire station.
Takamoto said the efforts today included Hawaii Fire Department personnel walking the coastline and diving off the shore as well as searches from a rescue boat and the county’s Chopper 1.
Takamoto said the search for the missing youth would continue Saturday.

Tyler Madoff, 15, of White Plains, NY was with a youth tour group visiting the shore of Kealakekua Bay Wednesday afternoon when he was washed into the ocean by a large wave.
The Coast Guard is no longer involved in the search.
A 14-year-old who was with Madoff in a tidal pool near the Captain Cook monument when the wave hit was rescued by a guide with the tour. He is reportedly in critical condition in an Oahu hospital.
