Hilo Public Meeting Tonight on Navy Training EIS

The US Navy will hold an open-house meeting tonight in Hilo to discuss a draft environmental impact statement on its plans for training in Hawaii and Southern California.

The meeting will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. at the East Hawaii Cultural Center on Kalakaua Street.

The training as proposed will involve the use of sonar and explosives.

Copy of the draft EIS is available at www.HSTTEIS.com and at public libraries in Hilo and Kailua-Kona.
