Dream of weekend bliss and plan on audio love, food and fundraising, artsy enchantment and more this weekend beginning May 18.

Art Talk and Potluck

Randall Shiroma, sculptor, pioneer and master of terrazzo will talk story at the Donkey Mill Art Center in Holualoa on Friday May 18, at 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Terrazzo is an Italian method of using sculptural material that consists of varied sizes of marble chips set in concrete, which is cut, shaped and polished. Bring your favorite vittles and share at this free event.

Shiroma is also giving a concrete sculpture workshop on Friday May 18, to Sunday May 20, at the art center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Tuition is $300 and 7 seats are still available. Shiroma will welcome and share his expertise with all levels of students.

2nd Annual Puna Music Festival

A ten-day music fest kicks off on Saturday May 19, at 8 p.m. with an intimate evening with Kuana Torres Kahele.

This incredible singer-songwriter is known for his vocals with Na Palapalai, as well as his ten Na Hoku Hanohano Award nominations in 2012.

Tickets are $35 general, $75 VIP (which includes a pre-concert dinner with Kahele). Dinner begins at 5 p.m. Call 808-965-7828. Multi-day passes are available for purchase. This event takes place at multiple locations in Puna.

The festival unfolds with further talent, as Paula Fuga, Medicine For the People and more will offer close encounters, jam sessions, concerts and workshops. For more information visit www.punamusicfestival.com.

Fundraising Tastes So Good

Taste of West Hawai'i

Innovations Public Charter School is raising funds for their educational programs and campus expansion on Saturday May 19.

The Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort & Spa will host this event featuring local chefs and restaurants.

Fine wines will flow and suds from Kona Brewing Company will be on tap. Dennis Garcia and Kimie Miner will provide the night’s entertainment. Also, don’t go home empty handed as $10,000 worth of items will be up for bid during the night’s silent auction.

Hulihe’e Palace is Glee-ful

On Sunday May 20, wind down your weekend with some chill Hawaiian music featuring the Merrie Monarch Men’s glee club and Kumu Hula Etua Lopes and Halau Na Pua Ui O Hawai’i on palace grounds. This free event begins at 4 p.m.
