A 22-year-old Puna man wanted for questioning in a shooting last year on Highway 130 has turned himself in, police said.

Misinale Kalavi Jr. was arrested on suspicion of attempted second-degree murder after he arrived at the Pahoa police station Wednesday. After conferring with prosecutors, police released Kalavi pending further investigation.

Earlier this week, police said they wanted to question Kalavi, a resident of the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision, about the shooting Oct. 22 of a man driving in the area of the Ainaloa subdivision.

The victim, a 36-year-old Kea‘au man, sustained a head wound when the occupant of a teal-colored sedan allegedly shot at him. The victim was treated at Hilo Medical Center and released.
